Online Trauma Recovery Programme
with Dr Rachel Lee

If you're experiencing persistent anxiety, trauma or post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and have been wondering what's wrong with you, why you can't relax, why you're having symptoms like flashbacks or why you can't stop thinking about the things that have happened to you, or why no-one quite understands what it's like for you, you're in the right place. I'm a trauma specialist and I've drawn on my experience of helping people recover from trauma to design a step-by-step programme that will give you important answers, insights and tools to help you start to recover, feel more like you again and rebuild your life.

This North Star Trauma Recovery Path will help you make sense of how you're feeling by explaining what happens in our minds and bodies when we experience distressing events. You'll realise that your trauma symptoms make sense and are changeable.

This programme will also give you the practical tools you need to start doing the things you love and feel more like yourself again. Plus, you'll get a series of audio files that you can download to your phone so that you can have the strategies and tools you need in your pocket so that you can use them wherever you are.

I'm Dr Rachel Lee, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Trauma Specialist with over 20 years of experience helping people with trauma, and I've created this programme to help more people with trauma get the answers and strategies they need to enjoy life again. The programme covers key areas that I know are important for people with trauma, such as how to cope with symptoms like panic, flashbacks and nightmares, how to tackle anxiety and avoidance so that you can start doing the things that matter to you, and how to improve your relationships.

The North Star Recovery Path will be available in July 2026.

If you're experiencing trauma, you've probably noticed that your life has shrunk or that you've stopped feeling like yourself.
1000066938_c2dba5acb6f8a8842bfa986daa693
You may find that you've tried lots of different ways to feel better but...

  • You relive the awful things that happened in the form of flashbacks or nightmares and they make you feel scared and unsafe.
  • You walk into situations and suddenly find yourself feeling anxious and panicky without quite knowing why.
  • You're more snappy, irritable or angry than you used to be and small things annoy you.
  • Your confidence has reduced and you've stopped doing things you enjoy.
  • You don't recognise who you've become and wish you could feel more like yourself again.
  • You feel more distant or disconnected from your friends and loved ones..
  • You sometimes feel like you're existing, rather than living.
  • No-one understands why you feel the way you do or why you can't just "put it behind you" or "move on".
If this sounds like you, you're definitely not alone. I've helped hundred of people recover from trauma and they all had some of these experiences when I first met them. In fact, most of my clients had the whole list.

Distressing events leave a lasting imprint on the nervous system and afterwards our brains become focused on looking out for threats and helping us avoid further harm. This is our survival mechanism, it's the brain doing exactly what it's meant to do. But when our threat system becomes too sensitive it leaves us feeling anxious and on edge a lot of the time and this often stops us living the life we want. This programme will help you start to change this nervous system dysregulation so that you can feel calmer and less on edge and be able to live your life with more freedom.

I've designed the North Star Trauma Recovery Path to help you start your recovery straight away and feel more in control of your emotional responses. and get back to enjoying your life.

Across a series of six video modules, I share what we now understand about trauma, highlight this with some (anonymised) real life examples and help you understand why you've not been able to think your way out of your difficulties. Throughout the programme I share the psychological models that I use with my one-to-one therapy clients and give you practical tools that you can start using straight away, based on my experience of what works, drawing on over 20 years of clinical experience of helping people recover from trauma.

The programme will be available in July 2026.

Is this programme right for you?

This programme is ideal for you if...

  • You're experiencing trauma symptoms and want to understand what is happening in your mind and body.

  • You've tried to cope alone but feel stuck and overwhelmed.

  • Trying to change your thoughts hasn't worked, so you are looking for something that focuses on your whole nervous system.

  • You want to use scientifically-proven strategies, in a trauma-focused way.

  • You feel like you're just existing and want to start rebuilding your life, your identity and your relationships.

  • You've had therapy before, but it wasn't the full answer or your therapist didn't help you understand, at a deeper level, why you've felt stuck, or give you trauma-specific tools that work with your body as well as your mind.

1: What is trauma?

Trauma is more common than many people realise, and it can affect many areas of our life, sometimes in ways that aren’t always easy to understand. In this module, I share the latest thinking on trauma and what happens in our brains and bodies when have highly distressing experiences. By the end of this module you will have made sense of your symptoms and why you can't just think your way out of trauma. You'll realise that you are having a natural response to a distressing or abnormal experience, that you're not "broken" and that there is a clear way forwards.

2: Identifying and coping with triggers

Triggers can make life feel unpredictable and overwhelming. Sometimes they are obvious, but at other times they are more subtle and might leave you wondering why certain situations, people or places have such a strong impact on how you feel. This module will help you get to know your specific triggers, understand what is happening when they arise, and develop practical coping strategies so that you can feel more in control of your emotional responses and free to do enter situations that you've been avoiding.

3. Understanding and regulating your nervous system

After a trauma our nervous system functions differently. We usually feel a heightened sense of danger and tend to be hypervigilant for threats. This module will help you understand the way the nervous system works and why it's more complicated than fight or flight. I'll help you understand what happens in your body and I'll give you  practical ways to work with your nervous system rather than against it, so that you can regulate your nervous system whether you feel anxious, angry or disconnected.

4. Coping with common trauma symptoms like flashbacks and nightmares

Flashbacks, nightmares and anxiety are among the most distressing and disruptive symptoms of trauma. It's awful to experience a traumatic event in the first place and it's then highly distressing to keep re-experiencing it.  This module will explain why these symptoms occur and how to handle them more effectively. I'll give you a toolkit of practical, evidence-based strategies to help you manage these symptoms, so that they no longer feel so overwhelming or like they are controlling your life.

5. Reclaiming your life and rebuilding your identity

Trauma often leaves people feeling like they have lost a sense of who they are. Maybe you've stopped doing your favourite activities or seeing the people you care about. Perhaps an injury has changed how you look or what is physically possible for you. This module is designed to help you reconnect with who you are and what matters to you so that you can start building a life that feels meaningful and brings you joy, even if there are some constraints on what is possible for you.

6. Restoring and improving your relationships

Trauma often has a large impact on our relationships and this can leave us feeling lonely or on our own with things. This module will help you think about your relationships, identify the ones you would like to invest in and improve, and explore how to overcome the common relationship barriers that trauma can create. I know that sometimes the people we love struggle to understand how we are feeling or why we can't "move on". Within this module I've included a video for a significant person in your life, to help them understand the difficulties you are experiencing, why these problems are persisting, and what they can do to support your recovery.

The North Star Trauma Recovery Path
Start to recover from trauma with 6 key modules and a carefully chose set of resources. As you move through this programme you will get start to make sense of how you are feeling, discover ways to regulate your nervous system and feel less stressed, and move yourself closer to a more fulfilling life.

Having delivered therapy for over 20 years, I know that recovery involves more than insight and learning a series of coping strategies. You need ways of applying the insights, ideas and tools to your unique situation, so that that you can see a path forwards and so that the changes you make are optimised. Also, when we are triggered, we often move out of our problem-solving mind and it can be hard to apply the strategies we've learnt. At these times having someone guide you through the strategies can be very helpful, particularly in the early days.

That's why I've also included…

An integration Module: Bringing everything together and creating your recovery path

When you complete all six modules you'll unlock a final integration module designed to help you reflect on the progress you've made and consolidate everything you've learned. This module guides you through a powerful visualisation and develop your Personal Recovery Plan, a guide that will help you apply what you've discovered, set goals for the future and continue your recovery.

A range of resources, designed to help you apply the ideas to your specific difficulties, including audio files that you can download to your phone

✔ Printable worksheets to help you remember the key points and apply the ideas to your current situation. Completing the worksheets will help you see things more clearly.

✔ Audio files of a range of key emotion regulation strategies that are used in the stabilisation phase of trauma-focused therapies like EMDR. In these files I walk you through the strategies step by step in real time. Downloading these files to your phone will mean that have them to hand whenever you need them.

Included audio file resources:

-  Calm place visualisation

-  Dropping anchor mindfulness practice

-  Diaphragmatic breathing

-  Light stream visualisation
